Ian McNicoll, Ocean Informatics, UKDr Ian McNicoll (MBChB) worked as a GP in the Scottish NHS for 15 years, leaving practice in 2001 to concentrate on his GP accounting software business for which he was the key designer and developer. This business achieved a 30% market share in the UK and was sold last year allowing Ian to refocus on his original interest in health informatics. This interest began 20 years ago when he worked with the Scottish national GP software (GPASS), and more recently within the Scottish NHS on projects such as health and social care integration, cervical cytology messaging, GP system prescribing safety standards and palliative care extensions to the Scottish Emergency Care Summary (ECS) As part of his studies towards an MSc in Health Informatics, Ian became aware of openEHR and recognised the potential benefits it could bring to integration and adaptable EHR design He is a member of the openEHR Archetype Editorial Group and for the past year has been working with Ocean Informatics as part of the NHS England CfH Clinical Models team, using openEHR methodologies to define clinical content for national and regional projects. Knut Bernstein, Health Informatician, MEDIQ, DenmarkKnut Bernstein is a medical doctor since 1984 and he has a university degree in informatics. He is a partner in the consultancy company MEDIQ, having electronic health record implementation, clinical content specifications, terminology, semantic interoperability, data modelling, standardisation and certification as his primary responsibilities. Knut Bernstein’s competences cover broadly health informatics and quality development. In regards to electronic health records (EHR), he has been working with strategy development and dissemination plans, requirement specifications, data modelling, standardisation and electronic communication. He has performed usability assessment, quality labelling, technical validation and testing of EHR systems. He has been working with the use of SNOMED CT in EHR systems. For several years he has made annual reviews of EHR development and dissemination. The user interfaces and the support of clinical work processes while using structured information and clinical guidelines have had his special attention. Knut Bernstein has been working with systems analysis and development at the National Hospital. Due to his clinical background, he focused on clinical workflow support and user interfaces. He has been working with informatics research and development at The Danish Institute for Health Services Research, and with electronic health records and electronic communication at the Danish Centre for Health Telematics. He has for many years participated in the health informatics standardisation work in Denmark and in CEN, and he participated in development of the first CEN standard for EHR. He cooperates with international groups in the area of clinical archetypes. He has participated in several large EU research projects since 1996, in many as coordinator. He has more than 15 years experience in project management. Morten Bruun-Rasmussen, Engineer, MEDIQ, DenmarkMorten Bruun-Rasmussen has extensive experience in requirement analyses, system architecture, and technology evaluation as well as thorough knowledge on software development and implementation of large administrative and technical information’s systems. Morten Bruun-Rasmussen has applied knowledge in methodologies and specifications for evaluation, assessment and usability of the quality of all kind of software components and end-user applications. For more that 15 years he has been working in the area of Health Informatics, with focus on Regional and National Health Care Data Networks, Electronic Health Records, standards, integration and interoperability Morten Bruun-Rasmussen has extensive experience in general management, project management in running of an organisation or company. Morten Bruun-Rasmussen is external reviewer at the Danish Universities in computer science and Medical Informatics. Morten Bruun-Rasmussen is also widely used by the European Commission as an independent expert to evaluate R&D projects in the Information Society Technology and Quality of Life programmes. Ida Tvede, Projekt Manager, Digital Sundhed, DenmarkIda Tvede is educated Intensive Paediatric nurse and has several years' additional education from Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen. Ida Tvede is working at "Connecting Digital Health in Denmark" and is currently project manager for the Danish Archetype Proof-of-Concept project. Since 1992 Ida Tvede has been working with health informatics, i.e. with implementation of systems, data requirements and data flow analyses, standardization, National Electronic Health Records, data modelling, concept modelling and translation of SNOMED CT into Danish. Helen Broberg, Project Manager, Skåne Region, SwedenHelen Broberg is responsible for the Health Information Structure in Skåne Region. She also participates in the National Information Structure Programme (TIS). Helen works with archetypes within the Region as well as in National Projects as a part of implementation of the Swedish IT Strategy.
